Paro Tshechu Festival — 7 Days

Seven days timed to the spring Paro Tshechu — Bhutan's most attended festival — with stops in Thimphu, Punakha and Gangtey.

The Paro Tshechu draws thousands each spring to witness sacred masked dances at Rinpung Dzong and the dawn unveiling of the enormous silk thangka of Guru Rinpoche. This seven-day itinerary begins in Thimphu, visits Punakha, continues to Gangtey's monastery and ends with the Tiger's Nest hike. Festival dates fall in late March or April.

  • Paro Tshechu — masked dances and sacred thangka unveiling
  • Gangtey Goemba in Phobjikha Valley
  • Punakha Dzong and Dochula Pass
  • Tiger's Nest Monastery hike
  • Thimphu cultural museums and dzongs
