1 Arrive Bumthang — Jakar Dzong & Jambay Lhakhang
Fly or drive to Bumthang's Jakar town (2,600m). Visit Jakar Dzong (White Bird Castle) overlooking the valley. Afternoon at Jambay Lhakhang, one of Bhutan's oldest temples, said to have been built in 659 AD to pin down a demoness. Traditional farmhouse dinner.
2 Kurjey Lhakhang, Membartsho & Local Tastings
Morning at Kurjey Lhakhang, the complex of three temples where Guru Rinpoche left a body imprint in the rock. Walk to Membartsho, the Burning Lake where sacred texts were hidden centuries ago. Afternoon visit a local dairy for Bhutan's famous yak cheese, a honey farm, and the Swiss-founded distillery for apple brandy tasting.
